Renovating your home

In the current economic climate many people are choosing to renovate their homes to accommodate their changing lifestyle needs rather than sell up and move on to something bigger. Maximising the potential of your property will certainly add value to your property as well as provide extra and better living space.

Some properties need renovating due to structural problems and some just have awkward layouts or 'dead spaces' which could be renovated internally to improve the living space and functionality of a house. If your home is listed you will need to find out if there are any restrictions which will impact on your ideas before you make any plans. However if your home is listed as Grade 1 or Grade 2* it may be possible to apply for a renovation grant if there are any serious structural problems to your property.

Buying a property to renovate

Buying an existing property to renovate as a financial investment is no longer as easy as it once was. House sellers and Estate Agents are fully aware that property developers have been snapping up run-down houses in up and coming areas and the bargains are few and far between. However, providing you know what to look for there are still properties out there with investment potential.

Nick can source an investment property on your behalf, negotiate a purchase, arrange for a survey and provide renovation ideas and advice. He can also draw plans and assist you with planning submission, recruit builders and tradesman and project manage on your behalf.

Buying a property to renovate in France

If you are thinking of buying a property to renovate in France but don't have time to research properties and negotiate a purchase Nick can work on your behalf to achieve a successful purchase. He can also project manage your renovation works and has a working knowledge of French building law.

Having lived and worked in France, Nick is a fluent French speaker and astute negotiator. He can research, locate and view properties on your behalf and negotiate with French Estate Agents (Agences Immobilier).

France has different laws governing the building and renovation of property and the process involving building plans, permissions, regulations, responsibility and builders insurance is complex. Nick can guide you through what you need to know to build, renovate or alter property in France.
